Two suspected illegal immigrants had to be rescued after they got into difficulties when crossing the English Channel in a toy dinghy.

The two men, originally from Pakistan, got within a mile of the Kent coastline in a blow-up rubber boat made for kids.

The men were thought to have been dropped off close to the south coast by a larger sailing vessel.

But they got into trouble and were only saved after they were spotted by a boat full of tourists on Tuesday afternoon.

Stuart Bishop, who runs Dover Sea Safari, said: “We were on a tour of the Channel, with about nine passengers and a couple of crew, when all of a sudden we caught sight of this rubber dinghy, about a mile away from Deal.
