Parliament is the forum where government policies are discussed: Khawaja Saad Rafique

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – State Minister for water and Power Abid Sher Ali advised Dr. Tahir ul Qadri to consult a psychologist. He gave this advice while responding to Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)

Chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri’s ‘open debate’ challenge to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said that Dr. Tahirul Qadri must know that the current government has been formed after an election in the country that was won by Pakistan Muslim League (N). “He should also know that Parliament is the forum where national policies are discussed”, added Abid Sher Ali.

PML-N leader from Faisalabad Abid Sher Ali said that Tahirul Qadri must consult a psychologist before giving challenges to the elected representatives of Pakistan or at least take advice from a doctor before issuing statements on national issues. “Tahirul Qadri will flee abroad after creating problems for the country”, said Abid.

Earlier today (Friday) Dr. Tahir ul Qadri had challenged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to a public debate on the issues of foreign policy, interior policy, privatization policy and accountability by holding a press conference at Minhajul Quran International (MQI) secretariat in Model Town, Lahore. Tahir ul Qadri highlighted 20 topics on which he differed with the government. Criticizing the government, Dr. Qadri said that Nawaz Sharif’s policy of recruitment of staff in public institutions was flawed and he challenged Nawaz Sharif to a debate on the subject. He said that the major issue with Nawaz Sharif’s governance style is that it doesn’t focus on accountability. He denounced the government’s privatization policy saying that it was not in line with the international standards and was prone to corruption. Tahirul Qadri had also asked Prime Minister to decide a venue for the debate.

Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said in response to Tahir ul Qadri’s challenge that Parliament is the venue where Dr. Tahir ul Qadri can discuss the policies of the government provided that he makes it to the parliament through public vote first. Khawaja Saad Rafique said that Parliament is supreme and the only institution in the country where national policies can be made or discussed. “If Tahir ul Qadri wants to discuss or debate the policies of the government, he needs to win a seat in the Parliament by contesting an election”, added Khawaja Saad Rafique.
