Anti-government protesters beat a riot policeman after clashes during the Revolution March in Islamabad

DERA ISMAIL KHAN/LAKKI MARWAT: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq Tuesday urged the National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq not to accept resignations of the Pakistan Tehirik-e-Insaf (PTI) members in order to put an end to the political crisis in the country.

Addressing a public gathering here, the JI chief said he had told the NA speaker that if resignations of the PTI leaders were accepted, it would further deepen the political crisis. He regretted that sit-ins in Islamabad had shifted focus of the provincial and federal governments from the problems of flood-affected people and the IDPs.

Earlier, speaking at a gathering in Naurang town in Lakki Marwat, Siraj also urged the government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to solve the issues through talks as the country was passing through a critical juncture of its history and a minor mistake could prove disastrous for the system.

The JI chief said that the jirga was striving to reconcile issues between the federal government and PTI and PAT. He said that 80 percent issues between the government and PTI had been settled, hoping that the remaining problems would soon be resolved.

Sirajul Haq said that success of talks between the government, PTI and PAT was inevitable to save democracy. “Both sides should show seriousness to settle their issues through negotiations,” he maintained.

He added that political crisis had a bad impact on the economy. “There is a need to find out a way to bring an end to sit ins,” he said, adding, his party would form an Islamic welfare state if voted to power. “We can overcome the problems only through implementation of true Islamic system,” he added.

He announced that the JI would re-launch “Pakistan Movement” from Minar-e-Pakistan from Nov 21. He called upon the people and party activists to participate in it for enforcing Islamic system in the country.

The JI chief also held a meeting with the heads of government departments and discussed with them the problems of people. He called upon the government officials to spare themselves for serving the residents of the district. He also directed them to leave no stone unturned in resolving the genuine problems of area people.
