Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Make Their Debut on The Voice: How'd They Do?

The Voice‘s judge chairs have started turning once more, as season seven of the hit show premiered tonight…with a few new faces on board.

Tonight marked new judges Gwen Stefaniand Pharrell Williams first night on duty on NBC’s singing competition, as they joinedVoice vets Adam Levine and Blake Shelton in the iconic red chairs for another season of blind auditions, battle rounds, steals, shocking eliminations and amazing guest mentors for all the new contestants!

So how did the new judges do?

We loved the fresh, new attitude they brought to the show, and is it just us or did it feel like Stefani and Pharrell were born to judge alongside Levine and Shelton?

The Voice has had a continuously-changing roster of judges since its inception. Back whenThe Voice premiered in 2011, Levine and Shelton sat in the judges’ chairs with CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera. When Green and Aguilera didn’t return for season four, their spots were filled by Shakira and Usher for one season. Aguilera and Green then returned for season five, with Green announcing that it would be his last season, and Shakira and Usher returned for season six.

Carson Daly has been the host since the series premiere.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.

Playing Women's World Cup on turf not discrimination: CSA

The head of the Canadian Soccer Association is frustrated over suggestions that players are being discriminated against because next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup games are being played on artificial turf. A group of 40 women’s soccer players have threatened a lawsuit because artificial turf will be used at the stadiums. They argue female athletes are being discriminated against because the men’s World Cup is played on natural grass. Canada is scheduled to host the World Cup in 2015 at six sites across the country, with the final scheduled to be played at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium. CSA president Victor Montagliani said it is up to FIFA, soccer’s world governing body, to comment on the issue of turf, but he said any talk of gender discrimination in the sport in Canada is incorrect. Montagliani says the CSA spends a little over $4 million a year on the women’s program. That’s about twice the amount spent on the men’s program.
